Historically Rhode Island was known as the Aquidneck Island, and now it is also called the Ocean State and or Little Rhody. The State of Rhode Island is geographically the smallest state in the United States. The state capital and the largest city of Rhode Island is Providence.
Rhode Island was one of the thirteen original American colonies that declared independence against British rule to begin the American Revolution.
The Atlantic Ocean lies on the south of Rhode Island. There are hardly any mountains in Rhode Island, as it is mostly flat in its terrain. The state of Rhode Island produces vegetables, dairy products, and eggs.
The state has a steady tourist industry and many attractions to see. For example the Water Fire Providence, Convergence Art Festival, the Trinity Theater, Newport Jazz Festival, and Fort Thunder to name a few.
Block Island, which is very famous for its lovely beaches, lies approximately 12 miles off the southern coast mainland of Rhode Island, and tourists who come to Rhode Island seem to enjoy the seashore activities.
