The spectacular Knossos Palace which dates back to 1,700 B.C, this is only a 5Km walk from the town centre. The Knossos Palace includes the Minoan Houses, the Royal Villa with its beautiful mosaics and the Caravanserai. If you are visiting the Palace it would be much recommended to visit the Archeological Museum of Iraklion where all the remains are housed. Here you will also find objects which were found in tombs and caves which are very interesting to observe. Another ideal way to experience Crete and its raw beauty is to simply walk along its breathtaking countryside where you can see gorges, monasteries, olive groves and just simply picturesque views.
