| Rhodes is the Crusader Isle, steeped in ancient history and boasting 300 days of clear blue skies each year. It should be a tourist paradise but its sheer popularity is its own undoing, attracting relentless and overwhelming waves of visitors from March to November. Despite tourist cash pouring in by the annual bucketful the island seems unable to shake of a shabby and scruffy air. Rhodes has succumbed to the worst excesses of package tourism and now nurtures an insatiable avarice that only an unending supply of gullible foreigners can sustain. Tourists are there for the taking and Rhodes takes just about as much as it can possibly get
