The title Pacific Ocean means the peaceful sea and it is the world's largest body of water. It covers one third of the total area of planet earth and it contains about 25,000 islands, which are more than the total number in the rest of the world's oceans combined.
There are few irregularities in the bottom of the ocean; however, there are some western parts of the floor that consist of mountain arcs that rise above the sea as island groups, such as the Solomon Islands and New Zealand. Pacific water temperature varies from freezing in the pole-ward areas to about 29°C near the equator. The climate of the Pacific varies greatly and there is most definitely something for everyone — only the interiors of the large landmasses of Australia, New Guinea, and New Zealand escape the pervasive climatic influence of the Pacific.
The Pacific has many areas of a volcanic nature and outside the Andesite Line, volcanism is of the explosive type; The Pacific Ring of Fire being world's foremost belt of explosive volcanism. The largest landmass that lies entirely within the Pacific Ocean is the island of New Guinea, which is the second largest in the world.
There are around seventeen independent states located in the Pacific and tourists can enjoy their visit to some these countries within the group: Australia, Fiji, Japan, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
