| Regina, Saskatchewan Canada
Regina is the capital of Saskatchewan, it is prairie city (thanks to it’s early settlers) and a considerably new city, it was named the capital of Saskatchewan in 1905. An interesting fact is that before Regina was named Regina it was called ‘Pile of Bones’. It is the sunniest city in Canada and the summers are dry and very warm.
Some interesting places to visit include; Government House which is definatley worth visiting here you can go on free tours of the house, the Mackenzie art gallery which is one of the largest galleries in this province and the Saskatchewan Science Centre. Regina is also home to Canada’s training academy for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
A very fascinating place to visit would be the Cannington Manor, a historical park which is located in Didsbury just 200km southeast of Regina. In 1882, Captain Edward Pierce tried to establish a new life here after failing miserably in England. He planned on establishing an English aristocratic community were his people played recreational rugby, cricket and immigrants were hired to do the farming. This experiment failed and now you can visit what remains from this experiment such as the Hewlett’s houses, the all Saints Church and a carpenter shop.
