| The municipality of Nysa is one of the largest tourist centers of the region. Apart from magnificent monumental architecture there is a lot to offer for fans of active recreation. At the Nysa Lake they can fish, sail and practise other water sports. Nyski Osrodek Rekreacji (Nysa Recreation Center) located at the lake has rich technical infrastructure and extensive accommodation and gastronomic base. Together with its sandy beaches, guarded watering place and water chute as well as hiring place and water equipment and harbors the Center is one of the most attractive recreation areas of the Opole region.
[Nysa Lake - Nysa Recreation Center] The area surrounding the Lake is for some destination and for others a point for further hikes and bicycle excursions. Beautiful scenery with Opawskie Mountains in the background and attractive bicycle routes encourage to make such excursions. Close neighborhood with the Czech Republic makes also possible mountain hiking and other sports. It is also possible to visit border spas with their mineral and thermal waters.
Those fascinated in defensive architecture and survival are welcome to Twierdza Nysa - one of the largest and most attractive systems of fortifications and fortress structures. Some of the structures such as Fort Prusy built on the star plan, are unique on the European scale.
Inhabitants of the town and tourists have at their disposal municipal sport-recreation facilities: municipal outdoor swimming pool, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and multi-functional municipal stadium.
Cultural municipal establishments offer wide range of cultural events - concerts, literary soirees, author meetings, film programmes, exhibitions, etc. Rich collection of European painting and e.g. furniture can be admired in the Museum of Nysa. Those interested in sacral architecture can see thirteen churches of Nysa including the Cathedral. |
