Yukon, Canada

Yukon is situated in the North West of Canada and borders with Alaska. It is a true natural gem and it’s wild beauty is paramount. The region is mostly mountainous, amongst the more famous ones are the Selwyn Mountains and Ogilvie Mountains. It’s fauna is rather diverse and abundant, Yukon is home to many large animals including grizzly bears, wolves, moose, lynx and many more beautiful Canadian creatures. During the winter months, Yukon is covered in snow which provides the perfect venue for many exciting outdoor activities such as skiing and dog mushing.

Dog mushing is very adventurous and Yukons used to use husky dogs and sleds in the past as a means of transportation, however, they are less needed for transportation nowadays but yet the Yukons like to keep the tradition of mushing. This is best manifested in February when Yukons go on a 1,000 mile quest and race from Whitehorse to Alaska. You do not require any past experience to start mushing, however, you do require a lot of love for dogs and a craving for an adrenaline rush.
