| Silkeborg is known as one of the most attractive municipal areas of Denmark as well as being renowned for its art. Surrounded by vast forests and lakes, the city is located in the lake plateau area of central Jutland. The Silkeborg Museum houses the Tollund Man, a prehistoric corpse found in swamps whose age is estimated to be about 2,200 years. The biggest attraction of the city, however, is its art museum with a rich collection of work by modern artists and classical modernism. In September 2000, Kaiserslautern entered into an official city partnership with Silkeborg after intensive contacts had developed during seven years of friendly relations. |
