| Who has not heard of Oberammergau, the world-famous village in the Bavarian Alps? The name at least is familiar to most people. Oberammergauhas became world famous because of the passion plays performed in the village every ten years. The next season of performances is in the historic 2000. More than 2,000 Oberammergau villagers will take part in the passion plays, fulfilling the solems promise of their forefathers to perform a play depicting the passion of Christ.

| Oberammergau is a small town in the Bavarian Alps south of Munich and almost on the Austrian border. It is most well known for its spectacular Passion Play (one of the greatest Christian Travel destinations in the world!), but is also much visited for its fine wood carvings, its beautifully painted houses, and its general charm and attractiveness.
