Riccione, the main destination of summer tourism on the Adriatic riviera of Romagna is together with Rimini one of the best known seaside resorts in Northern Italy. Within the last year, a steady growth of foreign tourists, especially from Germany, has been recorded.

Tourism in Riccione is massive, mostly young people, who have been attracted by the number and variety of discos, on the Riviera and in the city centre, that contributed to make the city a synonym of unleashed young amusement from the 60s onward. Riccione also attracts families with children, thanks to its theme parks, which are among the most famous in Italy: oltremare, aquafan and indiana golf hosting dolphins, seals, sea horses, and some more sea animals.

The scores of hotels on the Riviera, one next to the other, determine the large amount of tourists flowing there in summer. The main streets of Riccione, viale Dante and viale Ceccarini—also marked by night spots, discos, and hotels—swarm with people walking or biking. The sea-front is a long boulevard, shaped by a road and an equally developed bicycle lane, that reaches up to the town's end going along the sea.
