| Formentera is the fourth island of the Balearic archipelago. Its surface covers 84 km2. Formentera is a flat island with two great seawater ponds: S’Estany des Peix and S’Estany Pudent, a great dune area and two elevations: the Cap de Barbaria, in the southern part, and La Mola plateau, in the eastern part. | Formentera, viewed by some as the last bastion of earthly paradise on the Mediterranean, is solely accessible by ferry from Ibiza, its neigbouring island. It is a tiny island with an area of 82 km² or 32 square miles, separated from Ibiza by a distance of just 17 km or 11 miles. |
