Avignon is very much a cultural centre, with a lot of heritage, festivals, fine cuisine, there is definatley a lot going on in this French town. The annual famous Festival d’Avignon is a performing arts festival which attracts around 150,000 visitors each year. It normally lasts for a month and the festival includes ballet, music and contemporary theater. The historic centers of this town together with the chateau have been chosen as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so for the history lovers this town is a must.
