Trento, Italy Travel & Tourism Search
This region is definatley one of the least Italian regions of all. It lies on the Northern Eastern borders with Austria. It is certainly a stunning alpine piece of land with snow covered peaks, dazzling waterfalls, and spectacular meadows.
While traveling through this region one can notice the strong Austrian influence. You are more likely to be served dumplings rather then pasta or pizza. Most of the locals speak German and as a matter of fact the towns all have two names such as Cortaccia = Kurtatsch.
In 1939 Mussolini gave the locals a choice to retain Italian citizenship and remain in the region or emigrate to the North. Most of the people chose to emigrate hence why this region is under-populated.
Since it is a famous winter destination, this region boasts several skiing resorts to suit all pockets.
During the summer months it is very enjoyable to go on bike trips along the beautiful meadows and enjoy the alpine fresh air!
