| Vinkovci is located in Slavonia, the eastern part of Croatia characterized by Pannonia and the Danube-basin and in the northern part of the flatland by on the river Bosut where the Bosut makes its most northern curve. It is the biggest city in the southeast of Slavonia and the west of the Syrmia region.
The old part of the city is situated on a raised piece of land on the left bank of the river Bosut which flows through Vinkovci in the length of 3,5 km and the smaller, later-established part of the city is located on the right, lower river bank.
