Maastricht, Netherlands

Maastricht is the provincial capital of Limburg and is rather different from the rest of Holland. It is ideally located on the Belgian and Dutch border and it dates back to the 50 B.C. This city is a historical gem with over 1,400 monuments and buildings, such as the city square where you can find the oldest church in the Netherlands – the Basilica of St. Servatius which is also the patron saint of this city. Whilst visiting the Basilica, it is recommended you enter the storehouse were you can see some very impressive treasures such as part of the skeleton of St. Servatius and many relics.

The Natural History Museum is also a great tourist attraction, here you can witness Fossils, Giant Turtle remains and the St. Pietersberg caverns.

Maastricht is also of significant European importance thanks to it’s Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre which has been the host to many European Conferences.
