The region of Piedmont borders France, Switzerland and the Alps. The lowlands are very agricultural and very famous for the production of wheat and rice.
Some of the most famous wines such as Dolcetto and Barolo are all produced in this district.
The capital city of Piedmont is Torino also synonymously known for it’s automobiles manufacturer – FIAT. Fiat organizes guided tours of the headquarters where one can witness the enormous test track on the roof!
Torino is sometimes referred to as the ‘Paris of Italy’ due to the similarity of it’s wide tree-lined avenues and beautiful town houses on the sides.
Some attractions this region has to offer include the Benedictine abbeys which are definatley worth a visit, the Royal Palace and in the province of Susa one can visit the castle and cathedral of St. Justus.
