Fafe hosts some magnificent countryside, dotted with huge ancient boulders. Visitors to Aroes, 4km from Fafe, can see the impressive 13th century church of Sao Romao. 17 km east lies Gandarela, a pretty town famed for its trimmed hedges and gardens.

The town boasts three museums based on the themes of classic cars, hydroelectric power and typography. If your looking for some fantastic panoramic views in all directions visit the Calvario Gardens. A must see.
