Vila Verde is a small place located 15 km north of the provincial capital, Braga, in the heart of the lush, green Minho region. Officially granted its charter on 24 October, 1855, the town is documented as far back as the 10th century, before Portugal itself was established. Nowadays it is a thriving centre for handicrafts, winemaking and cattle breeding.
