| Castelo Branco, Beira Portugal
Castelo Branco is the commercial and administrative centre of Beira. The city itself is quite old and is named after its castle - Castelo Branco literally means White Castle. The most important monument in Castelo Branco is the Jardim do Paco Episcopal otherwise known as the Garden of the Episcopal Palace. It is one of most beautiful baroque gardens in Portugal and contains statues of allegories, kings and zodiacal signs, arranged around ponds, terraces and staircases.
