Innsbruck is the provincial capital of Tirol. It is world famous for hosting excellent winter sports conditions, in fact Innsbruck hosted the winter Olympics twice, in 1964 and 1976. However, do not be intimidated if you have never skied in your life, there are ski schools starting from toddlers to adults.

Innsbruck is a very picturesque and charming city which is demonstrated in it’s Mari a-Theresien-Strasse which is an wonderful street which runs through the Aldstadt (old parts of town) through the arch of triumph. The houses here are also spectacular and so are the arcades and the well known Golden Roof.

If you visit Innsbruck during Christmas time you can visit the Christmas Market which is held here in Landhausplatz. You will experience life size cribs, Christmas lightings and Christmas carol singing which is sure to set your Christmas sprits high. If you are visiting Innsbruck during the summer months, you will not be disappointed either. Once the snow melts away the sun and blue skies provide a total different and just as beautiful façade. During the summer months you can go on hikes or mountain bike tracks, or for a game of golf.

A province full of crisp air, lakes, mountains and charismatic friendly people makes Tirol an unforgettable vacation. It is a great destination for winter or summer alike. Tirol is nevertheless a heaven on earth for the winter sports lovers due to the fact that a large percentage of the province is an Alpine region. Tirol borders with Germany, Vorarlberg, Italy and Switzerland and is frequently visited by the inhabitants of the bordering countries for weekend breaks.
