The capital of Carinthia is Klagenfurt which had many ancient legends linked to it. It is a famous tourist destination thanks to it’s mountains and lakes. Some of the famous sites to visit include; The statue of Lindwurm which is a special type of dragon and legend has it that some brave man killed this Lindwurm which contributed to the founding of Klagenfurt.
Klagenfurt Cathedral is also a spectacular cathedral which one should visit, it has been re-designed in baroque style.
Another famous attraction is the ‘Minimundus’, it is a collection of miniature worldwide famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal and many more. This is a famous attraction for the young and old alike.
Just on the outskirts of this city you will find 23 castles and a few parks. Klagenfurt also hosts the famous Ironman contest.
Carinthia is situated in the Alps and borders Italy and Slovenia. The Carnian Mountains make up the border between the two neighbouring countries. Carinthia is famous for it’s lakes namely the Worthersee which is around 20km long and it’s distinct blue green colour against the alpine region provides a photographer with a perfect canvas! Many tourists are attracted to this lake and it’s splendor.
