This region became an autonomous region in 1983 when the regions of Castilla La Vieja and Leon were unified. It is the largest region in Spain and all the European Union. This region has many manifestations of the Spanish medieval times in its castles, monasteries and its fortified towns. The capital city of this region is Valladolid which is a monument in itself. There are the sculptures museums here and if visiting during Easter time make sure you attend the Easter processions where the true Spanish culture comes out.
