La Rioja is a province and autonomous community of northern Spain. Its capital is Logrono. Other cities and towns in the province include Calahorra, Arnedo, Alfaro, Haro, Santo Domingo de la Calzada, and Najera.
La Rioja is also synonymously known for the famous wine that bears the same name. It is one of Spain’s smaller autonomous communities. The pilgrim of the Way of Saint James was lead through La Rioja which has become of historical importance for this province. The monasteries here are definatley worth a visit.
