Liguria is on of Italy’s smallest regions. It is mountainous and includes some of the Maritime Alps and Ligurian Apennines. The provinces of this region include; Savona, Genova, Imperia and La Spezia.

Liguria borders France to the west, Piedmont to the north, and Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany to the east. It lies on the Ligurian Sea. The coastal strip forms the Italian Riviera; further inland are the Ligurian Alps, on the west, and the Ligurian Apennines on the east. It is noticeable that, despite the high population density, woods cover half of the total area.

Genova is an important commercial and tourist port. It is home to many riches. The Porta Soprana is a beautiful stone gate which welcomes everyone to this wonderful medieval city. Genova is also home to many beautiful 12th Century palaces such as the Palazzo Podesta and Palazzo Bianco which now hosts many works of arts by Durer and Caravaggio.

Most people come to Liguria to enjoy the luscious coast and sequence of resorts. This region does indeed have it all, from the beautiful sea coast, ports, beaches, resorts to the Alps and the Apennines.
