The Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a group of five major islands; however, around 550 islands combine to form the total land. It is located in the Indian Ocean in the south of Bay of Bengal. The islands consist of a mass of hills enclosing very narrow valleys; the whole land covered by dense tropical jungle; and is a home to variety of birds, animal species, and marine life. Andaman is the only place in India with an active volcano, arising from a submerged mountain chain. However, Nicobar Islands are part of a great island arc created by the collision of the Indo-Australian Plate with Eurasia. These islands experience usually warm climate, but with sea-breezes and receive irregular rainfall.
