Arunachal Pradesh, popularly known as "land of the dawn-lit mountains" or "land of the rising sun", is one of the Seven Sister States of the Northeast India. A big part of the state is covered by the Himalayas. People in the high elevation areas or Upper Himalayas enjoy an alpine or Tundra climate, and in the Middle Himalayas a temperate climate is being experienced; whereas at sea levels, the climate has hot summers and mild winters. Forests of dwarf rhododendron, oak, pine, maple, fir, and juniper cover the hills and mountain slopes in the state. Heavy rainfall is being received in the state, mostly between May and September. Fruits like apple and oranges are grown in the state; however, sal (Shorea) and teak are the major economic species. Unspoiled environment and cultural diversity attracts tourists from around the world to visit Arunachal Pradesh.
