Bihar is situated in the eastern part of India. The name Bihar derived from Sanskrit word Vihara, means Abode. The Buddhist Vihara, abode of the Buddhist monks, dotted the area in the ancient and medieval periods. Most of the Bihar is a very fertile flat land; however, the central part consists of some hills. The state has several rivers including Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, and Falgu. December and January are mildly cold months, and April, May and the first half of June are the hot months. During June, July, August, and September, the state experiences good rainfall; and October, November, February, and March are very pleasant months. The first and second universities of the world, Taxilla and Nalanda, were situated in Bihar, before being into the history. The state has many spiritual and historical places for the tourists to visit and enjoy!
