Sikkim is the least populated Indian state nestled in the Himalayas. Though it is the second smallest state in the country, but still is geographically diverse with mountains, glaciers, lakes, and mountain-passes connecting the state with other regions. The world's third highest peak, Kanchenjunga, is also located in Sikkim. However, almost entire state is hilly. Sikkim is now one of the most visited destinations in the country, for, having political stability along with untouched scenic beauty. Most of the regions of the state enjoy a temperate climate; however, some parts experience a subtropical to tundra climate. During monsoon season, Sikkim receives heavy rainfall. Sikkim is proud to be one among those Indian states, which receive regular snowfall.
