Uttar Pradesh is world famous for it pottery along with its arts and crafts, which include saris, silk, and cloth-work, etc. One of the most visited places in the world, i.e., the Taj Mahal is also located in the state in the city of Agra and is visited by millions of people each year. The state also has the two holiest cities of India— Allahabad and Varanasi, famous for the festival at the banks of the river Ganges each year and a festival called Kumbha Mela after every 12 years. People from around the globe come to these places to take part in the holy festivals. There are a number of other places in the state, which attract tourists from every corner of the world, including Fatehpur Sikri, historical tourist place; and Sarnath, where Gautama Buddha gave his first sermon at Sarnath after his enlightenment, Ayodhaya, Mathura, and Brindavan, etc.
