Guangdong, a province of the People's Republic of China, is located on the south coast. Guangdong is one of the richest with the highest total GDP among all provinces, and has managed to attract 30 million migrants. Geographically, the province is separated from the north by a few mountain ranges collectively called the Southern Mountain Range. The South China Sea is in the south of Guangdong, and in the northwest is Leizhou Peninsula with a few inactive volcanoes. The Pearl River Delta, filled with hundreds of small islands, is the convergent point of three upstream rivers: the East River, North River, and West River.
Major cities in the province including cities around the Pearl River Delta are Chaozhou, Chenghai, Dongguan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Kaiping, Nanhai, Shantou, Shaoguan, Xinhui, Zhanjiang and Zhuhai.
