Liaoning, a province of the People's Republic of China, is located in the northeastern part of the country. Liaoning enjoys a continental monsoon climate with rainy summers while the other seasons are dry. However, the average annual rainfall ranges between 440-1130 mm.
Major tourist destinations in Liaoning are Chongzheng Hall in the Mukden Palace, the palace of the Qing Dynasty emperors, a world heritage site and is significant for its representation of palace architecture at the time; a group of three imperial tombs, also a world heritage site; Wunu Mountain City, a Goguryeo site found in Huanren Manchu; the largest Buddha statue made of jade in the world in the city of Anshan; Liaoyang city, having a number of historical sites, including the White Pagoda; the port city of Dalian, home to a number of beaches, resorts, zoos, seafood, shopping, Russian- and Japanese-era architecture, and streetcars, a rare site in China; and Dandong, a medium-sized city offering a cross-river view of the North Korean city of Sinuiju.
